Connecting With Your Child’s Teacher at Canvas TCISD

There are a number of ways to connect with your child’s teacher. The Canvas TCISD App is just one way, but there are also events and assignments to consider.

Assignments

Using Canvas as a teaching tool is a great way to provide a continuous learning platform for your students. Students can use Canvas to complete assignments while away from school. Canvas can also be used for in-person instruction. The Digital Backpack program is being developed by SMSD to help provide a virtual learning experience for students. To use Canvas, instructors must first set up assignments to be shared by SIS (School Information Systems).

Once an instructor has assigned assignments to be synced with SIS, it is necessary to select which assignments to sync. By default, all assignments will be selected. If an instructor wishes to sync only selected assignments, they can choose a specific date and section to sync. In addition, instructors can request to sync grades.

Communication with your child’s teacher

Communication with your child’s teacher at canvas tcisd is important, especially when your child is not physically in school. Whether you live far away or simply do not wish to commute to school, a virtual learning platform like Canvas can give your child a chance to continue learning without stepping outside of your home. For example, if your child has an Individualized Education Plan (IEP), he or she will be able to access classroom instruction online, rather than attending a traditional school. During this time, your child’s teacher will have the ability to record and monitor engagement with your student in real time.

In addition, you can get information about your child’s campus and educational links by visiting the Parent Helpdesk. You can also view one student at a time using the TCISD app.

Your child’s teacher will be able to reach you anytime via the phone or email, if necessary. If you are having problems with a particular page on the site, you can contact the district’s COVID Task Force, which is comprised of teachers and parents. This group will also help you to dig deeper into your child’s return plan.
